FreqAssist
Version 1.02
by: Steve Robbins [M3014]
RFS Software
What is FreqAssist?
FreqAssist is a program that adds to the capabilities of the Freq.cfg
file contained in your MEBBSNet:ConfigFiles directory. First the current
crop of Freq.cfg generators only support one password for all files.
FreqAssist will allow you to assign different passwords to different
freqs. Secondly, FreqAssist allows you to add Magic names to your freqs.
And lastly, FreqAssist will also allow you to place one password with
every entry from a specific directory.
Copyright notice:
FreqAssist is copyrighted and is distributed as freely distributable.
No warranties are implied or expressed with regard to the total fitness or
useability of FreqAssist for any particular purpose. All risks are that of
the user. Permission is given or this file to be distributed among the
Customer Support Sites. Permission is also given for this program to be
included on any MEBBSNet distribution disks.
Why?
As stated above, I cannot find another way of having different
passwords for different listing in the Freq.cfg. This feature may not have
a lot of use but there are some uses like having certain files that are
for only members of your local net, for example. Magic names, for those
not familiar, are a freq'able name or a file that always gives you the
most current version. For example, instead of always having to tell other
Fido nodes the specific version you have available or a program, you can
just give them the basename for them to freq. Then, no matter what version
you have available, they can freq it without knowing the filename.
Instructions:
FreqAssist is an ARexx program and needs to be placed in your Rexx:
or MEBBSNet:Rexx directory. FreqAssist.cfg needs to be placed in your
MEBBSNet:ConfigFiles directory. FreqAssist needs to be run immediately
after you run your Freq.cfg generation program (FrekIt is an excellent
example).
Instructions are provided inside of the configuration file on how to
make your entries.
As always, any suggestions or comments are always welcome. I can be
contacted the following ways:
Fido: 6:733/3 (any routed netmail can be dropped off at 1:105/200, you
know "NODE 6:733/3 TO 1:105/200" in the Route.Cfg)
